Winter in the swamp sounds weird, but it is actually a nice time to walk in the swamp. During the summer you see all the ugly water and stuff, but in the winter it is all dried grass and pretty snow! Last weekend Mom and I took a nice walk through the swamp on a sunny day.
Actually, with the dirt/sand mix coming through the snow on the trail, the colors match my furs quite nicely!
We walked out of the swamp, into the woods for a bit too. The trail in the woods is nicely trampled down for walking.
Although it was fairly warm and the sun was out, the wind was blowing like crazy. My silly head furs were quite the site!
Winter in the swamp is especially conducive to wind because it is such an open space. Still we think it is much prettier to walk around in there during the winter than in the summer months. It is a lot different than walking in the woods like we did the previous week.
Mom and I had a nice walk and felt quite refreshed after out little tour. Next we got to go visit Gramma where I always get lots of good cookies! Did you take any fun walks lately?
We are joining our friends at Living Laughing and Barking in Our Backyard is for their Nature Friday blog hop.
A winter walk in the swamp looks like an interesting option. And possibly, unlike summer in the swamp, less likely to mean a post-walk bath…
Toodle pip!
Bertie.
No bath needed because everything if frozen!
that’s a good point about winter… we agree… we can start to discover the area what is flooded in summer…
As long as you are careful about the ice because not all ice is sturdy enough to walk or stand on.
Our southern swamps do not do well with excessive cold and snow. You’re right that the snow is very pretty up there!
We love the look of it and it matches my furs.
I always enjoy walking with you and your mom. We walk everyday too, but it’s to better our health. We just walk in our street. Round and round and round.
Have a woof woof day and weekend. Scritches all around and my best to your mom. β₯
We walk because we love it and because it is good for all of us too π
I 100% agree about a winter swamp walk. Shelley Lake has a swampy area too. Here in the humid south if I walked in the swamp in the summer the Skeeters feast on me.
Great photos of your beautiful self too
Hugs cecilia
Swamps have lots of bugs and creepy things Mom isn’t a fan of so in the winter it is much nicer.
We would definitely love that spot! We love these photos and you’re right you match the trail colors!! Great post. Happy Friday! your friend lilly
It’s not often your furs match where you are walking, but it happened.
Love that wind blown look, Bailie! Swamps are fun anytime of year (except maybe when the mosquitoes are out). We have swamp rabbits in the southern part of our state (Missouri bootheel), they SWIM! and are hard to catch. I don’t think they get up to MN. I’m not a water lover, so NO swamp rabbits for me!
Chablis
No one likes being bugged by bugs. One reason winter is awesome is there are no bugs out anymore. We would love a swimming rabbit. Maybe we need to start looking for some.
You are adorable and take the best walks ~ Xo
Wishing you lots of joy in your days,

Thank you. I do love my walks. Actually, we all do.
We don’t have winter swamps in Florida, they are swampy all year! Have a fun weekend! XOXO Sparkle
Even when it freezes in FL, it isn’t a real freeze. Mom doesn’t like all the bugs and critters around water, so that is another positive thing about winter!
We’ve never walked in a swamp before. Here, that means a soggy muddy mess but it doesn’t look that way to us in your neck of the woods.
They are disgusting messes, but some of them have trails through them which we enjoy walking on.
Yes, the swamp colors are perfect backgrounds for you and Mom also captured some stunning closeup shots … spectacular photos!
Thank you. I am a good model and the area looks pretty with snow.
The Swamp does look really pretty with the snow everywhere and I’m glad you had a fun out n’ about!
It is very pretty on a nice winter day.
I’ve wanted to take Levi on a walk in the snow this summer (away from where we live) but it’s just been too darned cold! Hopefully when the temp gets to over 30 degrees we will do that. Loved your photos!
It’s best to go when it is cold, not necessarily below zero cold, but teens and twenties, otherwise the melting snow will make a mess out of his furs π
What a beautiful walk in the swamp Bailie, and you’re right, the landscape matched your furs perfectly!

Rosy, Jakey & Sunny
Mom always says it’s not just important what you do, but how you look doing it. I did good with matching there.
We have some swamp (marsh) areas that we walk. They have concrete pathways through them so people (and dogs) stay out of the wilder parts. No snow or ice here in California; but we do get mosquitos in the summer months.
Some of our swamp trails have boardwalks, this one has gravel trails. In the summer there are more bugs and sometimes creepy reptiles. The winter is perfect because there is nothing but us, hardly any people either.
