The day after pulling an all-nighter is a tough one for cat bro Bert. We know he has a lot of fans, so we are letting him do a post once again. We had some warmer weather earlier in the week and Bert decided to stay out all night a few times. Now with the cold coming in, we don’t think he will be outside much at all, let alone all night.
Our pet sitter says he is just like a dog because if the weather isn’t great, he waits at the door to go out, does his business and meows to come back in. This week with warmer weather he spent a bit more time out in the yard.
He loves the sunshine, but it isn’t shining a lot in our yard at this time of year since the backyard is on the north side of the house. Still, he finds the sun and enjoys it.
Bert enjoys being out in the yard during the day when we dogs are out with him. He wanders around watching everything we do.
We all go out to use the “facilities” before bed and this week, a couple nights, Bert was there right with us waiting to go out. He is not dumb. The cat knows we go to bed after we come back in, so if he decides not to come in, it will be all night outside for him. Since there is no bed or real shelter in the yard, we don’t know where he naps, or what he does all night. We do know he is exhausted the next day and he will sleep all day.
It appears that his “do not disturb” sign is missing, so he has to compromise by burying his head. Pulling an all-nighter means a guy needs some good solid sleep when he comes back in the house.
If you really want to know how exhausting it is for a cat to stay out all night, check out this sleeping pose. We can’t wait to see how this guy handles the cold and below zero weather. We think he will turn back into an indoor cat all on his own until spring!
We are joining the Feline Friday Blog Hop held by Comedy Plus.
You really do sound more like a dog, Bert, and we love the picture of your face buried in the blankies!
I should have been born a dog, but I’m stuck in a cat body.
Sleep tight!
He does!
He’s a handsome mancat. I had a male cat many years ago that would rather be out then in. I sure loved him.
Thank you for showcasing Cat Bro Bert.
Thank you for joining the Feline Friday Blog Hop.
Have a purrfect Feline Friday and weekend. Scritches all around and my best to your mom. β₯
Everyone loves him, but he has made Mom crazy since he moved in. Trouble is his middle name and he loves to push Mom’s buttons.
Oh, Bert. It can be a dangerous world out there. Please stay save! XOXO Sparkle
He never leaves the fenced yard, so we are not too concerned about him.
Once the fireplace starts to roar he will be back in.
He isn’t going out much now that it is cold. Mom hopes he just stays in and uses the litter box, but he always wants to go out to the bathroom like we dogs do.
Maybe you need a cat door for Bert. I like hearing abt Bert. He is cute.
No pet doors at our house. Mom wants to know who is in and who is out plus that cat would bring in live mice and stuff that we really don’t want.
Bert it certainly does look like you are in need of several catnaps. I guess you have to sleep with one eye open just to be prepared for any sneak attacks
Night night sweet feline
Hugs Cecilia
We only attack him if he is up and moving around.
Wow Bert, you sure are adventurous…we would take a warm big bed with a human to snuggle with over staying out all night! Of course, we are dogs…maybe kitties are wired differently!
xoxo,
Rosy
He loves to sleep in bed where it is warm and cozy, but he also is a big time hunter so he feels the need to keep hunting while he can.
Bert looks so tired he must have had a very busy night hunting.
We know he is a good hunter, so he probably works at it all night long.
Bert, you sure must have been busy because you sure crashed and then some!
He crashed and he crashed super hard!
Your cat bro Bert is quite the cat about town, but you’re right, he’ll stay home when it’s too cold for him outdoors. You snow hounds love the cold, but house cats are descended from desert cats and crave warmth!
Cats are not keen about the great outdoors around here in the winter. He is already staying inside a lot more.
We bet Bert was super busy out there, because you are right … he looks exhausted. Happy napping, Bert!
We guess he hunts all night long because he loves to hunt and it keeps him warm moving around.
We think Bert’s “do not disturb” pose was to keep his nose warm. Winter brings cold noses and hunts for the best cuddle spaces.
That could be. Perhaps he has frost bite on his nose?
What a night you must have had Bert! Maybe you need to wear a go-pro or something so your mom can see what your adventures are!
We would all love to know what he does when he is out all night!
