What are dogs and their humans thankful for? We are good for each other for too many reasons to count. For today, I decided on six things for us dogs and six for the humans to share with you.
Let’s start with why we pups are so thankful for our humans.
- This first one is easy. We are super thankful that we have at least one human in our lives. Humans make our lives better.
- Humans give the best ear scritches and belly rubs.
- Life without toys would be soooo boring. Humans buy us toys so we have fun things to play with.
- Snacks! This is one of the best things. What dog isn’t interested in snacks?
- Walking and/or running is more fun with a human. Everyone needs exercise and it is more fun when you are not alone.
- Bedtime. Comfy, cozy dog beds are a true luxury. Some humans, like ours, even let us sleep in the big amazing human bed. After a good sleep, we wake up feeling Grand.
How about humans. What do we do for humans that they love?
- We give our humans purpose in their lives.
- All dogs, not just long eared ones make excellent listeners for whatever humans have to tell us.
- Walking and running is boring all alone, but not with a dog or two or four!
- Studies have shown that a canine companion lowers human stress levels.
- Laughter is good medicine and we pups are good at making our humans laugh.
- Having a dog often helps humans make new friends whether the other people have their own dog or not.
Dogs and their humans are a win all the way around. I could go on and on about why we are good for each other but for today, my selection of a few reasons is a good start.

You are so right, Bailie! There is no way life would be as much fun without my mom in it and she feels exactly the same way about me.

LOL, how true and Mom would have lots of money with no dog sports and dog treats/food to spend it on.
Doggos are amazing, as are cats and various other furry critters.
Humans need to be taken out of their heads, by loving their pets.
Furry critters are wonderful.
We agree with all those things – we are thankful every day.
We all are too.
So that is at least a dozen reasons for two-footed and four-footed should connect. Well done, Madison! Also, I sure like your glasses with the bow.

A wonderful and oh-so-true list of thankfuls … we cannot imagine living life without a pet beside us, there has always been a dog or a cat, or several or both, for which we’ve always been thankful.
Mom always had stuffed animals until she finally got her dad to let her have a kitten. She still had the stuffies but the real pet is what she always wanted.
What a pawesome post…and so very true on both sides!

Dogs and humans are a great combo!
Even though i can’t have a dog full time, i do attest to the fact that having dogs around is wonderful, i enjoy spending time with them whenever i can.
Mom was always a cat person until she had a dog. Cats are still nice, but dogs are more like furry people because they do so many things with their humans.
Yep!!! We love the list. Right now my baby brother starts the night on moms bed. She loves how he snuggles right next to her. Great post ! The human and dog relationship is so wonderful. your friends Lilly and Chester
We three girls all sleep in bed with Mom, but only Olivia cuddles up to Mom. Baby boy prefers the cold, hard flooring…weirdo! It is a good thing as there really isn’t much space for a fourth in bed.

You are so right, Bailie! The Z Kids definitely give purpose to my life! So did their six angel brothers and sisters during their times on earth. These two provide me with a reason to get out of bed every morning; the companionship that I’ve desperately needed since their daddy got his angel wings; and the laughter and joy that went out of my life when Ducky got her angel wings last year. And I do my best to keep them happy and healthy in return. I’m not always the best mom I can be, but these two love me unconditionally as I love them.
Our mom isn’t always the best mom and we are not always the best dogs, but that is life. We make up a family and family is there in the good and bad times.
