I got some mommy and me time at Lilydale Regional Park this week! The past couple months have been crazy at our house. Mom’s work has been way too busy, then she has to help me with my blog, my sisters and I have sports classes, and we have had a lot of competitions. To top it off, with Bailie’s injury, a lot of adventures have been off the table. This week things have slowed down, and I got a mommy and me trip, which I love!
The park has trails all along the Mississippi River. We have driven through the area often, but never stopped to go for a walk. This summer the area has often been closed due to flooding, but now it is all open. The river has a lot of green on it right now, but I wasn’t swimming, so it didn’t matter. The weather was perfect for walking without needing to swim.
There are a lot of old bridges and train tracks in the area. This one doesn’t seem to be used anymore. There were a lot of ducks and geese on this beach. They all headed for the water when I showed up.
Even though Minnesota is known for all the water we have, I don’t get to walk around water very often. Walking along rivers is more fun than around lakes I think. There seems to be much more nature.
With all the flooding it looks like the water washed away much of the cover for the roots of this tree. Now it is just a spooky, gnarly looking mess! I’m thankful the tree didn’t fall over on me!
I love going for walks, and especially mommy and me walks. Hopefully Mom’s business will slow down for a while so we can do more fun stuff. It’s tricky as Mom needs the green papers to keep my sisters and I in the lifestyle we are accustomed to, but it is no fun when she has to work so much. We are looking forward to a nice long weekend now! Have a safe and fun Labor Day weekend, friends!

mom time is the best time… and we love this area you picked for your walk… the mama had immediately tom sawyer in her mind and with the old train tracks it is a super place to ponder about the past …

It’s neat to see, but it would be creepy at nighttime.

Callie and Shadow were always so bonded to each other that we rarely had “mommy and me” walks; it was always “mommy and us”, but we enjoyed every moment together. Maybe when it cools down a bit more, we’ll start going back to the park for our walks.
I get to always walk alone with Mom on our usual walking routes, my sisters are almost always together. They love being together. I get irritated with them, and prefer to be alone. Katie and I used to be like my sisters.
That is s great day spent together!

It is really hard since Mom started her business and it is always so busy. She has had to have someone help her out sometimes or she would never finish working.
THAT is probably the thing I like best about walking my dogs individually. That one-on-one time. With a busy life, those moments are super precious to me.
Mom says it is so easy to walk one, it is almost boring after being used to having her hands full with two or three.
