My sisters were discovering the dog park the other day. We had some gorgeous weather, and Mom thought it would be fun to take two of us to the dog park. She chose Alimagnet Park since Olivia had not been there, and she took Bailie because she often enjoys meeting other dogs. Bailie and Olivia headed off to see what they could find at the dog park.
Since we rarely go to dog parks, it had been a while since any of us had been to this particular one. In the twelve years we have known the park there has never been a major change, but now there was. They finally fenced off the water so dogs can only go into the pond if the humans let them through the gate to that area. Mom likes this, but is bummed the circular walking route is now chopped up.
Despite the sunshine, it’s still winter and a bit chilly. The pond had a thin layer of ice on it, and my sisters ventured out onto the ice. Mom only let them go out a short distance because she was afraid they might fall through the ice. Olivia has never been on a frozen body of water before. The slippery surface was a bit of a challenge for her.
Bailie struck a pose with a nice icy background. We think this is a great photo of her, don’t you?
One of Mom’s favorite things to do at a dog park is to practice recalls. Can you tell, Olivia passed the test? They went at an off time, so there were only a few dogs present which gave them the park almost all to themselves.
Bailie did some more exploring in the weeds and grass on the edge of the pond. I bet she is finding some great critter smells in there!
Olivia found the wooded area pretty exciting. There are real squirrels in then trees, and she could smell them, of course.
How about a picnic in the snow? Bailie would like to know if anyone would like to join her?
A beautiful day at an almost deserted dog park does really bring a smile to a girl’s face. Bailie was quite a happy hound.
Discovering the dog park together turned out to be fun for my sisters. They only spent about half an hour at Alimagnet park, but it was a good time, and Olivia got to experience some more new things.
We are joining our friends at Living Laughing and Barking in Our Backyard for their Nature Friday blog hop.
oooh what a nice place… and we even saw two stars on ice today… how great!!!
How lucky you are to have a do park like that. Looks awesome.
It is nice when it is not busy, but now we have to go through the gates to walk all the way around which is a bit of a hassle, but Mom can keep us out of the water too which is a plus.
Those are definitely some happy hounds! It seems like a good idea to fence off the pond, especially for times when the ice might not be safe, or the water too cold to swim in!
The pond is not clean, so we don’t go to that park when the water is open as some of us have gotten ill from it, so we are good with having a non pond section.
Beautiful pictures of the girls.
Thank you. It was fun taking some good photos.
Oh what fun it is to play in an almost empty park! I bet I would love it there – I love our “cold” Florida weather! XOXO, Sparkle
Dog parks are great when almost no one is there. It’s like our own backyard, only different.
You really are adorable enjoying your out n’ about in the snowy park!
Thank you. We enjoyed the little outing.
What fun! great photos of the girls and story line
Thank you. We had a fun time. I ignored Olivia a lot, but she was happy to be near Mom while I did my own thing.
Olivia and Bailie
Gosh what a fun walk with sisters today. Olivia you recall was at mach speed I believe.
Bailie I declare your face is so expressive when checking things out…you look if you would have lots to say.
Hugs Cecilia
I’m often told that I have human expressions. Even our behaviorist who doesn’t believe in that says it is true for me. I love to express myself with my look. Olivia just likes to be goofy at this stage.
The dog park looks so pretty in the snow. What a lovely expedition for Bailie and Olivia, and we are glad they stayed safe on the ice.
We had a good time. Mom told us how Emma fell through the ice in that very pond back in 2008. Mom had to go in past her knees to pull her out as she was stuck between ice pieces.
What a lovely day for an outing!
We are having some really pretty weather right now, and loving it.
What beautiful photos of you girls at your dog park! The snow is so beautiful.
Thank you. We love the snow!
How fun and you take great actions shots. Wow.
Have a woof woof day and weekend. My best to your peeps. β₯
We have a lot of action, so Mom had to learn how to use the camera a few years ago.
What a fun day at the dog park!!
We had a fun time.
What a beautiful day at the Dog Park. We sure with we had a big dog park like yours…ours are small and don’t separate the big dogs from the small dogs.
xoxo,
Rosy, Jakey & Arty
They have a small dog area too. Most parks around here do have that, but we go with the big dogs. Since there are not many dogs there when we go, it doesn’t matter much.
What a fun outing, and just long enough, it looks like.
We never stay too long as we go around once or twice and then we have sniffed out all we can and are ready to head home.
You had such a gorgeous winter day to visit that park. I’m glad that you had so much fun!
It was a great day for a short trip to the park.
Great Dog Park. You can keep the snow
Thank you. We definitely will as we like all the snow we can get.
WOW! What a great tour, that place looks amazing and the ice looks so cold…if you weren’t on itπΈWarm Pawkisses for a Happy Week aheadπΎπ½π
We are fans of the cold and snow! It was a fun little adventure.
playing in the snow is very funny for dogs, cats like it less, or it depends. From my 2 cats only one puts a paw in that white stuff, the other sneaks along the walls of the house where no snow is !
Most cats are not big snow fans, but we three love it.
