Frost and plants don’t really mix, that is if you want to keep your plants alive! It is May, but here in Minnesota, we can still get frost, and the next couple nights may well be frosty. We bought some nice plants for our porch and deck, but they will have to stay in the garage until next week to be safe.
On our walks we have seen a few lilies and tulips here and there, but not many yet. In out own yard, bushes and trees are budding but no real flowers yet. Next week or cherry trees should explode into a beautiful pink, but now they are still buds.
Some other plants we have in our landscaping are also budding, but not ready to open up into flowers just yet.
Mom did buy this one geranium plant because she likes the two tone leaves. It is planted and is on the deck, but we will have to cover it at night for the weekend.
Being pink girl, I really like these pink geraniums. I hope they stay safe because frost and plants don’t mix at all and will kill them if we don’t keep them safe. Too bad they don’t really have a scent to them.
Weβre joining Living Laughing and Barking in Our Backyard for their Nature Friday blog hop.
we hope our plants will survive, they said we will get frost for this weekend ;o(
Frost and snow possible here. The garage is safe for our plants.
Top of the morn my lovely friends..
We heard on the news this morning NYC could have snow flurries and NC will have 31 degrees on Saturday night into Mother’s Day morn. Then they hots come back.
I really do love the hanging basket and the geraniums…Here’s too a no snow weekend for you ladies
Hugs Cecilia
We are expecting 20’s Saturday night and some snow showers, but it happens here in May, not every year, but now and then.
Take good care of your plants. Itβs going to be cold.
They will be nice and safe in the garage for the next few days.
The poor plants, they must be very confused. There’s going to be heavy frost not too far from us and the farmers are worried about their strawberry, peach and apple crops. Have a fun weekend sweet girls!
I think Colorado already lost a lot of their peaches to frost in April. Hope that doesn’t happen in your area too.
We had a cooler day yesterday, but no more frost this year here in Florida. Your flowers are very pretty. We have some geraniums too. Have a wonderful weekend! XOXO, Sparkle
Frost and snow showers here. It will be fine because we know it won’t stick around. Have a fun weekend!
We will probably have some cooler temps around here, but frost worthy. Protect your plants, girls!
Our plants will be safe, we are in charge of that!
Lovely flowers.
Thank you.
We usually get our last frost around Easter. Itβs definitely more summer like temps here now.
We can get frost until June, but by mid May it is usually not frosty anymore.
We live in the northern part of the U.S. too, so it’s been a bit chilly. Luckily, though, beautiful magenta and white trees have bloomed this following week, and the air smells like honey.
Not much blooming here yet, but it is getting ready to explode. We can see that.
Beautiful plants. Yes you have to protect them until the frost is over. You have pups to help and that’s a good thing too.
Have a fabulous day and weekend. Scritches to the pups. β₯
We will guard the garage so the cats don’t try to put them out. Cats would do things like that.
Hi pink girl! We like your flower show!
Thank you. We have some real pretty ones just waiting to go outside and grow.
Those two tone geraniums are very pretty.
Looking forward to seeing your cherry blossoms shortly!
Toodle pip!
Bertie.
The cherry blossoms and lilacs are the favorites around here.
We love your beautiful geranium! We’re supposed to get frost tonight too and have a very chilly day tomorrow.
Today is already super chilly because of the strong cold wind. Snow showers coming tomorrow.
Spring is always a nervous time when you have new plants, that’s for sure!
Mom buys them earlier than she should to get a better selection, but then they have to live in the garage for a week or two. They will survive and thrive.
The geraniums are so pretty, especially in that watering can planter! I always err on the conservative side here. One year I got ahead of myself and lost a bunch of marigolds to the frost. Better safe than sorry, I say, even though I’d love to have some flowers right now! (we’re supposed to get snow overnight tonight! can you believe that? It’s May!!)
We are having hard frost and flurries this weekend, but that is Minnesota. Mom gets plants earlier for the selection, but we don’t set them out until it is safe. Looks like a few more days and they can go outside.
What pretty geraniums, and your Mama was smart to buy early.
Looks like the flowers will be around before you know it!
xoxo,
Rosy, Jakey & Arty
They are starting to burst out now, despite the frosty morning.
Your flowers look beautiful, and you too sweetie, but the weather is very unpredictable. We lost a lot of young planted seeds because of the unexpected cold. Thank Cat many survived anywayπΈClean Pawkisses for a Happy Caturday. Stay Safe, Healthy and YourselfieππΎπ½π
We never plant anything, so it is easy to keep the flowers inside until it is safe for them outdoors.
Here, we wait until the pecan trees bloom. You can fool any tree but the pecan, it wonβt bloom until the last frost is gone.
We don’t have any of those trees. They are smart and would not like out winters, I bet. Here mid May is usually safe.
Pretty flowers. It just needs to stay warm.
Our garage looks beautiful in the meantime.
