We have a daily feline vs canine conundrum at our house between cat bro Bert and me. Everyone knows cats drool and dogs rule, but Bert insists that he is the boss of me and my sisters! Just because he is older and has lived here longer shouldn’t be a good enough reason. I kind of like Bert, but I also like to chase and tackle him. He doesn’t like that game too much.
Sometimes the two of us just hang out on the landing. We can see the world from here and there is plenty of room for both of us.
Bert is really naughty. He says when you get to be sixteen to eighteen years old, rules don’t matter. I’m not sure I buy that story. He loves to sit on the counters in the kitchen which makes Mom go mad. I can’t get up there myself, but I can get my head on the counter to look at him and contemplate what exactly he is trying to accomplish with his sit in.
The feline vs canine conundrum is the worst when it comes to dog beds. Bailie really hates having Bert in her bed but he insists on sleeping there with her. I got into the bed right next to Bailie. Mom put Bert in the bed with me, and what happened? Both of us were like, “no thank you”. We look like two leaning towers of Pisa.
There are also the other times where we have our tender moments. I enjoy licking Bert on his head and face. Amazingly, he puts up with it for quite a long time before taking off running. One day we will be a cat free home, so I try to get in a lot of cat time while Bert is still around.
We are joining the Feline Friday Blog Hop held by Messy Mimiβs Meanderings.
We have a cat here, too. He is not very friendly to us dogs, even though he helped raise Mia before they joined our household. I (Zachary) would just love to chase him, but he is just no fun. Cats do live a long time.
This guy is going to live forever I think! I enjoy chasing and tackling him sometimes but he isn’t fond of that game, and neither is Mom.
Go figure. No, not pawsible. Well told ~ how it works at times, and at times, not so much.
Cats and dogs is a real issue I guess. It’s funny how he has picked the dogs he wants to hang around with.
Great photos! Bert the cat is a character!! have a great weekend. your friends Chester and Lilly
Would you like him? We can put him in a box and send him to you guys. Happy Friday!
I’ve never met a kitty but I don’t think that I’d like him in bed with me either. We love the tender moments shot!
Bailie really gets irritated but she won’t kick him out. She goes and gets Mom to remove him but then he comes right back.
Awww such cutie pies! Vary sweet photos!
Thank you.
I think it is sweet that you tolerate and even like him.
I enjoy chasing him around and I guess I am more curious about him than anything. Bailie is sick of him in her space and the other two are lucky he shows them no interest.
Yes, enjoy Bert while you have him with you. He is a spunky kitty! XOXO, Sparkle
He is a problem, but we think he may live forever.
You boys DO have a connection, for sure!
Sometimes we do and sometimes we fight like cats and dogs, LOL!
Cats sound pretty fickle to us. We think you are very patient, Nelson!
xoxo,
Rosy & Sunny
Don’t worry, I also chase him down and wrestle with him until Mom comes to his rescue π
I think it’s great that Bert loves you, (yes he does!) and you love him (yes you do!). I think dogs like licking cat faces because cats seem to always smell like cat food π That’s sad to me that you won’t have another cat when Bert is no longer there. If you like cats so much, I hope there may be another. Oh and Roary is always on the counter (which is a no-no here too), cats don’t care. They do what they want and go where they want. That’s part of the fun of being a cat.
Mom has had at least one cat since she was 7 years old but these days they just don’t fit in with what we do. If there ever is another, it would only be a girl Bert is the 3rd male mom has had and they all have been nothing but trouble. Bert will probably live forever, so we are not worried about being without a cat.
I’m glad you two are buddies, I can tell that Bert really likes you and vicea versa, you make a good team.
We also fight with each other, but he can be fun to play with.
Felines are different, but that doesn’t mean you can’t all be friends. Bert just likes to do feline things and you like to do canine things, and it’s okay to each do what you do best.
Thanks for joining Feline Friday!
He’s been living here forever and we do our own things but he does get in the way a lot thinking he is a dog.
It sounds like you and Bert do like each other, even if you do sometimes have some disagreements about what’s what.
It is kind of a love/hate deal most of the time.
